LIVERPOOL CAPITAL OF CULTURE -
17/20 OCTOBER 2011 - THE LIVERPOOL
MARRIOTT CITY CENTRE****

A three night tour to Liverpool has been organised with accommodation in central Liverpool, a very short distance from Liverpool Lime Street Station. Your guide is Elizabeth Newell, author of “Albert Dock Liverpool”, lecturer and Blue Badge Guide. Liverpool has the largest collection of museums, galleries and theatres outside London, the largest Anglican cathedral in Europe, a world famous waterfront and the oldest ferry crossing in the world. It was the birthplace of the Beatles and it is home to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

 LIVERPOOL CAPITAL OF CULTURE

Whilst in Liverpool you can admire the rich architecture that is a legacy of the wealth created by Liverpool’s shipping industry and “take a ferry across the Mersey” to explore Port Sunlight, a world famous village created in the 19th century by William Hesker Lever for his soap factory workers. He also created an outstanding art gallery for his wife, where you can view 18th and 19th century paintings. Wedgewood, tapestries, embroideries and much more. A light lunch is included here after you guided tour.

Another famous art gallery to visit is The Walker Art Gallery with its world famous collection of Victorian paintings and Old Masters and close by we visit the historic St Georges Hall. Other visits are to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and the restored Albert Dock – home to Tate Liverpool and The National Maritime Museum.

Costs: From £449pp
Single occupancy supplement applies

You can be assured of attention to detail, quality, service and imaginative and carefully designed itineraries. Over the years our client list has included English Heritage, National Trust Associations, The Country Gentlemen’s’ Association, The BOC Group, Hillier Garden Club, Pershore and Warwickshire College of Horticulture, U3A Groups and many NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies). We pride ourselves on the fact that most our new clients and customers come to us by way of recommendation. We also tailor make and operate special interest tours for inbound groups.
