Cultural holidays, English heritage short breaks, garden tours and tours of Stonehenge

Escorted garden tours, cultural holidays and short breaks exploring our built and natural English heritage. Group travel and individual hotel breaks available from Brookland Travel.

We offer a range of imaginative and carefully designed short breaks, mainly in the UK with some European destinations featuring. The United Kingdom has so much to offer, bouquets

of blossom in various gardens, stately homes in stunning countryside, cities and towns that are abundant with fine architecture and culture, islands that are "off the beaten track" and castles where intriguing and exciting historical events have taken place.

Where possible we include private and lesser known properties that compliment the tour theme.

Since 1999, our short breaks programme has delivered quality escorted breaks for those seeking an independent way of enjoying a cultural break. Travel with like-minded people and be accompanied by one of our specialist guides who will share with you their knowledge in subjects ranging from history, gardens, art, architecture and archaeology, to name just a few themes. We operate the majority of our tours with a smaller number of participants to ensure a more personal experience. Julian Humphrys. historian, author and guide escorts most of the historical short breaks.

Tour the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace and experience a sense of atmosphere of the Coronation Day and see how the individual rooms were displayed with paintings, works or art and other objects used on the day. In the Palace Ballroom, the largest ever exhibition about the Coronation can be seen. Here, the dress robes, uniforms worn by the principal royal party will be on display. The table in the State Dining Room will be dressed to evoke the Coronation State Banquets, held on the evenings of 3rd and 4th June 1953. Other special inclusions within the two night break are a tour of Clarence House, the official residence of The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry.

The tour of Clarence House begins in the garden and this is followed by a 45 minutes tour of the five ground-floor rooms where their Royal Highnesses receive official guests from this country and overseas on behalf of the nation. Clarence House displays much of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother's famous art collection and superb examples of English porcelain and silver. Also, a private evening tour at Frogmore House, a favourite royal retreat set in the magnificent grounds of the private Home Park of Windsor Castle. The Queen acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 and was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953.
We will tour this wonderful 700 year old building, the coronation church of England, a living pageant of British history.

A few tours start from a central location i.e. London, however, others start when you meet your tour leader and fellow tour members at a welcome reception prior to dinner on the first evening of the tour. This allows you to travel independently to the hotel, whether by car or public transport, and offers the freedom of extending your stay before or after the tour. Perhaps for some private relaxation or to explore independently or visit friends and relatives in the area?
