Great care is taken to search out the best gardens and to visit them when they are at their best. We try to provide special extras such as private viewings and introductions from the owners and gardeners and also enjoy mixing the types of gardens we visit from large, neatly manicured National Trust properties to more intimate private gardens.
You will be well looked after on these escorted tours with the services of a guide and a Hillier host. Hotels are picked for their good service and executive coaching is provided throughout the coach tour. However, making new friends and enjoying the good companionship of your fellow travellers is what really makes these trips special. Whether travelling on your own or in company, you are sure to enjoy the friendship of your fellow guests. There is usually plenty of space in the coach hold so that you can purchase unusual and interesting plants for your own garden, at the gardens and nurseries we visit.
All coach tours start from Ampfield House, near Romsey, where free parking is available. The cost of all garden entries, tours and most meals are included in the price. Here is a taster of the seven breaks on offer for 2012.

Channel Island Gardens
From The Old Government House Hotel (Luxury hotel),
St Peter Port Guernsey |
2012 date to follow |
This delightful new tour will begin with a crossing in Club Class on Condor Ferries to Guernsey. We shall use smaller coaches and mini buses to negotiate the beautiful but narrow lanes of Guernsey as we search out some very special gardens including Mille Fleurs and Les Videclines Farm. Near our hotel we visit the private gardens of Grange Court and La Petite Vallee.
A short ferry trip away is the unique island of Sark and the garden at La Seigneuries, recognized by the RHS as one of the finest gardens in the Channel Islands. We also visit the island of Herm where the Head Gardener will guide our tour.
The Old Government House Hotel and Spa has operated as a hotel since 1858 but its history dates back to 1796 when it was the official Governor’s residence for the island and the Bailwick, which includes Sark, Herm and Alderney, until 1842. From 1940 to 1945 the Germans occupied it as their General Staff Headquarters but once the war was over, great alterations were made. Now it is a first class hotel and its unique atmosphere of dignity and good fellowship retained.
